Launched in April, 2018, this site is a home for anyone following or exploring a ketogenic (keto), low-carb high fat (LCHF), and intermittent fasting (IF) lifestyle. This life-changing way of life drastically changed Christine’s physical, emotional, and spiritual health inspiring her to share her weight loss success story with you.
Welcome to Joyful Keto Life.

Hello my FBFs (fat-burning friends), my name is Christine and I am living the most abundant, joyful life as a result of healing my body, mind, heart, and soul by following the keto and intermittent fasting lifestyle. Besides being a weight loss warrior in successfully losing 100 pounds (and keeping it off for over two years now), I’m enjoying my new calling in life to blog, write, and speak joy and hope into your story, too.
If you are sick and tired of being “sick and tired,” you have found a welcoming place to explore your options for healing your own obesity and chronic health issues. My entire life consisted of diet failure after diet failure. And the magic of low-carb living provided the answers I desperately sought for four decades. You are welcome here, whether you choose strict keto, dirty keto, low-carb high fat, and whether you implement fasting into your journey (I highly recommend fasting–my secret, not so secret, weapon).
My weight loss success story has been featured in Reader’s Digest, First for Women, Keto Over 50, Keto Food, and Diet Doctor. It’s an honor to share my story to inspire and motivate you in your own weight loss success story. I love seeing my low-carb friends featured on Diet Doctor–my favorite resource for all things low-carb.
I will share a lot more in future blog posts about my health story–but here’s the important highlights. I have been obese my entire adult life and a few years in my chubby childhood. I have tried every weight loss program you can imagine. I have tried tracking CICO (calories in – calories out). I have tried the SAD (standard American diet). I have tried outrunning my bad diet. You simply cannot outrun a bad diet. Besides, I hate to run. In fact, I hated all forms of exercise until recently when I finally wanted to start moving my body. Now I really love to exercise, but you don’t need to exercise to get results with this low-carb lifestyle. I have tried it all. For thirty years. Failing over and over again because I didn’t KNOW that my body was carbohydrate intolerant. Thirty long, frustrating years!
My life changing, divine intervention moment came during a casual conversation over lunch with a friend on January 13, 2017. Coincidently, I was eating bread and potato. Oh, and a steak–which was fine and dandy. Anyhow, my friend asked me if I had ever heard of Dr. Jason Fung and his book “The Obesity Code?” And how about intermittent fasting? Nope–never heard of any of that, but the little bit of info she gave me compelled me to spend all evening researching Dr. Fung. Reading his blogs. Watching his videos on Diet Doctor. I latched on to the low-carb high fat, ketogenic diet, and intermittent fasting science and have never looked back. Amazing that one year later, Diet Doctor was congratulating me on my one year anniversary of being Keto. We call this the “Ketoversary”! By the time I had my Ketoversary, I reached my healthy goal weight just a few days before. Since then, I’ve lost a few more pounds to be in the 100 pound weight loss club!

You should always work closely with a health care professional to manage your health. I work with three MDs to manage my health: functional medicine, cardiology, and sleep/pulmonology. They treat my metabolic dysfunctions along with monitoring my important blood markers routinely. Keto or LCHF may not be an appropriate way of eating for your metabolic health or other health needs.
