Healthy Fats Satisfy My Soul!
I’ve been struggling a bit this month and feeling a wee bit uninspired in what to share here on my little blog. I always pray for my words to come through the Holy Spirit and I’ve been waiting patiently for a few weeks now.
The other day, I specifically prayed before my devotion… “Lord, please reveal to me today Your words that I can share. Words that would apply to everyone reading and struggling with some part of their own healthy journey. I am thankful for this chance to share – so please open my eyes and my heart – guide me”.
You know what happens when you pray those words? He DELIVERS, that’s what happens!
I flipped open to Psalm 63 – you have to read the whole thing, but here’s the three verses that absolutely grabbed my heart:
Psalm 63:3-5
3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
I just knew reading verse 5 that He was speaking directly to me about my Keto lifestyle. The “richest of foods” literally means the “fattiest”. Hey – I eat the “fattiest” foods on Keto. Foods I tried to avoid for years! Now he’s right there waving their aroma under my nose!
I had a few moments of deep regret after reading this psalm this morning. How, how, how could I have missed this goodness all these years? I know how. I never, ever gave up control of my weight issues to God. I tried in my own power and I never asked for His help and guidance until my health was on a downward spiral. That’s when I got scared and I cried out for help.
That’s when He met me at my lowest and began revealing to me this crazy lifestyle we call Keto or Low-Carb Healthy Fats. Combine that with fasting – something we can also find practiced throughout scripture. I know, without a doubt, the random google search on January 13, 2017 was no coincidence.
In response to every way He has blessed me on this journey (so much healing which I blogged about in my September “Keto Heals” series), I have to respond as David does in this psalm. Just like David, I was hungry and thirsty spiritually – I just didn’t realize the depths. In response, I will praise Him for the healing as long as I live. I will lift up my hands and with my mouth I will sing praises. I will sing in the shadow of His wings. I will cling to Him. I know that I am held in His right hand. I know He provides all my needs in the most satisfying, richest ways imaginable.
I know He wants the same for you! Are you trusting God today for your health and your daily journey through this life? If you are not spending time each morning nourishing your soul with His instruction for your walk, I encourage you to start doing this. He will most definitely meet your needs with the “richest foods” – fully satisfying your physical, emotional, and spiritual health! Pure JOY!
